INSTRUCTORS INDUCTED IN CBET DELIVERY
TEVETA marked another important milestone towards building an inclusive and skilled workforce by facilitating an induction training on Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) with a special focus on inclusive teaching practices for learners with special educational needs.

The five-day training at Andiamo Technical College in Balaka has brought together 58 instructors from technical colleges across the country. Facilitated by experts from the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare and Montfort College, the training is equipping participants with practical, competency-based approaches to ensure quality, accessible technical and vocational education for every learner.

Opening the training, TEVETA Regional Service Centre Manager for the South, Dr. Conceptor Bamusi, reaffirmed TEVETA's commitment to ensuring that no learner is left behind.

"By the end of this training, our trainers will have acquired the knowledge and skills to effectively support students with disabilities, ensuring that practical, market-relevant skills are accessible to every aspiring learner."

Principal Disability Affairs Officer, Mayeso Malembo, underscored the importance of creating inclusive learning environments.
"Many persons with disabilities are eager to enroll in TEVET but continue to face barriers such as inaccessible learning environments, negative attitudes and inadequate learning materials. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensuring that no one is left behind."

Representing the instructors, Paul Gogwe from Soche Technical College emphasized the training will help solve the challenges they face in technical colleges when it comes to instilling skills in people with disabilities. He explained that the training will equip the trainers with the necessary tools to do their job with ease, bridging the gap between special needs education and practical technical training.

By strengthening the capacity of instructors to deliver inclusive, competency-based training, TEVETA is contributing to the realization of Malawi 2063 and ensuring that skills development creates opportunities for everyone.
