Instructors in construction trades such as bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, fabrication and welding, and general fitting have been encouraged to adopt and integrate digital technologies into their practice in order to remain relevant and align with current global trends.

Conceptor Bamusi, TEVETA Regional Manager for the South, made the call during the official closing ceremony of a week-long AutoCAD training held at Namanjiwa Community Technical College in Phalombe.

Among other remarks, Bamusi stated that the training forms an integral part of the TEVET Authority’s efforts to enhance the quality, efficiency, and relevance of skills development in Malawi. She further urged instructors to fully embrace the significant responsibility they hold in shaping the country’s construction industry.

“You are the master builders of this country. As you impart skills to your trainees, you are, in essence, shaping the physical stature of this country. Therefore, give your very best,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the participating instructors, Stiveria Sande, a Carpentry and Joinery instructor from Comboni Technical College, expressed appreciation to the Authority for organising the training, describing it as a timely intervention.

Sande noted that the training would significantly improve instructional delivery and better prepare trainees for the demands of the broader industry. She also acknowledged the rapid advancements in technology, which necessitate continuous engagement in professional development programmes.

The AutoCAD training brought together more than 35 instructors from various technical colleges across the Southern Region.
