Netherlands based World Projects Foundation has today handed over training equipment to eight technical colleges in Malawi at a ceremony held at Don Bosco Technical Youth Institute in Lilongwe.
The training equipment which include training panels, machines, computers and other training tools will benefit the following public and private technical colleges: Matunkha Vocational Training Centre, Phwezi Technical College, Livingstonia Technical College, Sonda Technical and Vocational Institute, Mzuzu Technical College, Salima Technical College, Don Bosco Youth Institute and Lilongwe Technical College.
Handing over the equipment, Ruud Rouvoet of the World Projects Foundation expressed that the main goal of the partnership with the Malawi Government and TEVETA was to contribute to modern, accessible and high quality vocational education in Malawi.
"The equipment will help students develop practical knowledge and skills that will help Malawi achieve it's aspirations as espoused in the Malawi 2063," he said.
In his remarks, TEVETA Executive Director, Mr. Elwin Chiwembu Sichiola, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to youth empowerment and skills development.
“Our mission has always been to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry reality. These tools will ensure that our graduates are work-ready,"he said.
Sichiola assured the Netherlands partners that the equipment and tools will be fully utilized and and maintained. He further called upon other partners to emulate the gesture by World Projects Foundation.
Daniel Peter, president of the student union at Don Bosco Technical Youth Institute, expressed gratitude to the World Projects Foundation and TEVETA for granting them access to modern training equipment.
"This donation changes everything for us as we can now practice the skills the modern job market demands and turn our dreams into reality," he said.
The donation marks another milestone in strengthening technical and vocational education in Malawi through strategic partnerships and investment in modern training facilities.
