The TEVET Authority and the Chamber of Skilled Crafts and small businesses of Cologne HWK of Germany signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a partnership project named Vocational Training Partnership Project from December 2016 to November 2019 (Phase I).

The project aims to capacitate TEVET provider institutions to offer practice-oriented training in close cooperation with the private sector in order to better respond to labour market needs. The project is part of the German Development Cooperation with Malawi and funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in cooperation with Sequa.

The Project Concept

Youths who have improved access to relevant, practically-oriented vocational training, with the result of better employment opportunities in Malawi.

Project Goal

The vocational training in selected trades in Malawi is increasingly oriented towards the needs of the private sector.

What do we want to achieve:

Results:

Result 1:

Cooperation in the area of vocational training between relevant industry representatives and vocational training institutions is strengthened.

Result 2:

The range of advanced training offer for Instructors (Teachers) in Technical colleges and training companies in selected trades is oriented towards private sector needs is improved.

Result 3:

Curricula in selected trades are reviewed to reflect private sector needs, and are available for Technical Colleges and training companies for vocational training.

In which areas are we active

 

Trade and Occupation:

Metal /Fabrication and Welding:

Focus is on developing programs as short courses to facilitate specialization by artisans who already possess fabrication and welding skills.

Electrical installations and electronics, Instrumentation:

Focus is on developing programs and building the capacity of Technical Colleges to be able to offer training at Level 4 (Diploma) of the Malawian TEVET Qualification framework.
