Project Assistants
Purpose of the Job:
The Project Assistants will support effective day-to day implementation and monitoring of the REWARDS project, ensuring timely execution of planned activities in coordination with implementing partners in the three regions, as well as accurate documentation and reporting to the Regional Service Centre Managers under the technical leadership of the Project coordinator and Regional Service Centre Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate day ‑ to ‑ day implementation of REWARDS project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets.
Support the preparation and tracking of activity plans, schedules, and implementation milestones.
Coordinate logistics, meetings, and communications with implementing partners, training institutions, and industry stakeholders in the three regions.
Input to technical progress reports under the guidance of the Project coordinator.
Support implementation ‑ level monitoring activities and data collection, especially of trainees for M&E reporting.
Support financial and procurement processes by working closely with the Finance and Procurement Assistants to ensure timely submission of documentation.
Support integration of cross ‑ cutting issues, including gender equality and Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS), in project activities.
work with Technical Colleges to report challenges encountered during project implementation for quick redress by relevant authorities.
respond and provide support on emerging issues
Perform any other project ‑ related duties as assigned by the Head of Projects Management or the Project coordinator and manager
Minimum Academic and Professional Qualifications
The Project Assistants shall have
A Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Economics, Education, Renewable Energy, or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least 2-3 years’ relevant work experience in project coordination or management.
Demonstrated experience working with government institutions, development partners or private sector stakeholders.
Knowledge and understanding of the TEVET sector, skills development, or employment promotion programmes is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of results ‑ based management, Monitoring and Evaluation, work planning, and reporting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Duration of the Assignment
The contract for Project assistants shall be for a period of two years, renewable subject to satisfactory annual performance reviews and availability of funding. Remuneration ranges around MWK2,700,000 (gross salary before deductions) and shall be negotiable based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
