Job Responsibilities

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (Regulations of Education and Training Institutions) Regulations (2006) gives legal mandate to Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) to carry out quality assurance function for technical and vocational colleges in Malawi

 The main objective of the quality assurance function and activities is to ensure that all training institutions comply with the required TEVET Standards for the operation of a Training institution through pre and post registration inspections, alongside other activities. During such activities, the Authority engages Trade experts responsible for checking compliance of TEVET providers on the set education and training institutions Regulations and advising on the need to maintain quality and relevant teaching and learning environment.

 Roles and functions of TEVET Inspectors

• Inspect programmes (infrastructure, reference materials, teaching and learning materials, assessments, students welfare, college management)
• Give unanimous feedback on findings of the inspection of the programme delivery
• Submit inspection report to the TEVET provider institution immediately after the inspection exercise and TEVET Authority within five working days
• Supervise compliance on set standards, regulations and recommendations of quality education and training programmes delivery
• Advise on the best practices in TEVET provider institutions
• Validating decisions made on issues related to current inspection findings
• Follow up on the corrective and preventative actions taken by training provider from the previous inspections

Educational Requirements

Requirements

•     Bachelors’ Degree with 5 years’ experience in the field or Higher Diploma or its equivalent with 8 years’ work experience in the field.
•        Possess Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
•        Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach.
•        Have track record of satisfactory performance in the field.
•        Have knowledge of CBET approach.
