TEVETA-MUBAS SIGN MoU

TEVETA and the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is set to transform skills development in the country.

The MoU bridges the gap between Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) and higher education. It will empower Malawians with industry-relevant skills, create flexible learning pathways, enhance professional development opportunities, and provide apprenticeships and hands-on attachments at MUBAS and technical colleges. The partnership also aligns training initiatives with Malawi’s Industrialization Policy (MIP-1).

Secretary for Labour, Chikondano Mussa, said the collaboration will equip Malawians with employable skills, foster innovation, and drive economic transformation.

TEVETA Board Chairperson, Pyoka Tembo, noted that the agreement paves the way for a framework enabling TEVET graduates to seamlessly progress into higher education.

MUBAS Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, reaffirmed her institution’s readiness to support the transformation of TEVET to provide the skilled workforce required for the realization of Malawi 2063.

The signing of this MoU goes beyond formalities, it is a shared commitment to shaping Malawi’s human capital and preparing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
